RE: walmart Tires

Spent way to many years in the tire business to ever buy tires at Wally World or Sam's Club. I have absolutely no faith in the service personnel at any of these type stores. Many couldn't get a job in a true tire shop and quite often that serviceman just last week was asking "And would you like to super size that order?" And even though the Wally's and Sam's tires carry a name such as Firestone, BFG or Goodyear they are made to a lower spec than the comparable tire at the tire stores. You will also find that when you have to take the tires to that BFG dealer for warranty they will tell you to go back to Wally or Sam where you bought them. By any of the major brands at any REPUTABLE tire dealer. Any major brand is warranted by any like major brand tire shop across the U.S. of A and Canada. Wally and Sam maybe cheaper but you get what you pay for. BTW--That also applies to any discount tire shop including Costco, BJs, K mart and the like Just wondering where you recieved that information about tire companies making cheaper tires for WW or Sam's...etc? They do make a tire that is only available at their store and that may be why the major dealer cannot warranty them. I cannot speak for all tire companies as I only work for one of them.

RE: Another question about another unit I found for sale

Smaller "1/2 ton towable" fivers seem to go for more than they are worth. A lot of people are starting to look for smaller units because of the price of gas, I personanlly don't think it is that much over priced after looking around for at least a year for a smaller one. :) (provided everything works and it is in excellent shape)

RE: fifth wheel that can be pulled by 1/2 ton pickup

I wouldn't. Not enough truck for stability reasons. One ton dually much better. I respect your right to an opinion - but it is NOT necessary to have a dually for EVERY 5ver! Excuse me for a moment while I express my opinion.... Sorry for the rant - but I get so tired of some people's flat statments that seem to indicate that unless you have a one ton dually you are less of a RVer and are a little lower than the bug crossing the street and shouldn't even have the audacity to contemplate a 5ver. :R (Stepping off the soapbox and slowly backing off.....) :) Well said.:) My truck pulls my fiver just fine :) There are as many(probably way more)Fivers being towed with 1/2 tons as there is with duallys, and the stopping part we won't even go there as these trailers have brakes and if they don't help you stop then get them looked at ....:h

RE: Question about towing capacity for a Ford F150

I have the Reese pro 15k, just a normal hitch(no slide) as I have the 8 foot box :) Does your friends truck have the 8 ft box or short box? He might need a slider?

RE: Question about towing capacity for a Ford F150

I have a 2000 Ford F150 4X4 with a V6 auto with 3.55 gears and I tow a 21.5 ft fifth wheel. It does a good job at it but having said that I am only a weekend warrior and don't go much over a couple hundred miles from home. I can run along the Highway at 60 or 65 mph with no problems I just got back home from the Camp ground that we like very much and it's up a fairly steep mountian and the truck does ok towing it up. I will admit that if I was heading out on a trip like some people here go on I would like to have the V8 for the extra power. I would not tell you it would be ok to do but I have a few friends that are towing trailers with F150's and they do just fine ( One is towing way to big of a TT with a 4X4 4.6 V8. (not safe) and one is towing a Mallard the same as the one pictured above with his 2 wheel drive V6. Does the truck have a tow package on it?

RE: Will it pull it??

Quick question ...I see all the time that you might not beable to stop the trailer, Is this if the trailer brakes fail or are you saying that the trailer brakes are not able to help stop the rig and if so why are they there?

RE: Will it pull it??

I think Jimnlin just answered it best :) Everyone told me that I could not tow mine, but as always I never listen...lol and so far I have had no problems.

RE: Truck Tire Pressure

Like mentioned here it makes no difference...8o lbs is 80 lbs in a tire. I am not an engineer but I actually build tires... :)

RE: 1/2 TON TV for 5th Wheels, any 5Wtrailers light enough...

Tundra2084 wrote: Ok so I did a little looking and this is what I found for all you folks that are looking for a smaller fiver to be towed by your 1/2 ton trucks. Half ton Towable Fiver that weighs under 4000lbs with a tongue of 600lbs. Guess they are making them lighter and smaller now for those who don't want to tow the big rigs anymore. Kinda strange they list it as tongue weight instead of pin but hey its new and maybe they dont know the difference lol. Here's the info on this Fiver STANDARD FEATURES (25 FIFTH): * 2-Burner Stove w/ Range Hood * Sink w/ Auto Pump & 9 gal. tank * 7 Windows * Power Converter & GFCI * 6-Gal. LP Hot Water Heater * 1-piece Marine OSB w/ Linoleum Flooring * 14" x 14" Roof Vent * 2- 3500 lb Electric Brake Axles * Rubber Roof * Two 20 lb LP Tanks * Hot Water Shower (24"X40") * Toilet w/ Black Tank * 54" Dinette * Stereo w/ 4 in & 2 out speakers * 2- Built-In TV Antennas w/ Jacks * 13,500 BTU AC with Heater * 2 Way Refridgerator * Sleeps 7 * U-Shape Overhead Cabinets * Clothes Closet 5thW is 3,740 lbs w/ 600 lb tongue )That is roughly the weight of mine and I pull it with my V6 F150 (4x4) and I have no problems at all. I could probably pull more but I wouldn't. I did move my friends 2000 prowler (26ft) and it never set the back of my truck down anymore than my own trailer (about 1/2 inch)

RE: 1/2 TON TV for 5th Wheels, any 5Wtrailers light enough...

I know I will get bashed for this post (my first one here) but I tow my 21.5 Terry Resort with my 2000 Ford XL 150 4X4....V6 auto and I have no problems stopping or starting. I can run along the highway at 65 mph (faster if I want but why?)Just turn the O/D off and let her go. When I hook up the trailer the back of the truck drops about 1/2 inch :)
